Keyboard shortcuts

The complete list of shortcuts that exist, where each works, and the common ones that deliberately do not.

Vaulter is deliberately light on keyboard shortcuts; almost everything is a visible control. The ones that exist are listed here completely, along with the ones people expect that deliberately do not exist, so you can stop hunting for them.

Everywhere

KeysDoes
EscCloses the open dialog or menu
EnterConfirms the focused field in most dialogs (invites, renames, delete confirmations)

Finding things: Cmd+K

Cmd+K (Ctrl+K on Windows) opens a search palette in two places:

  • Workspace pages (dashboard, projects, templates, settings): searches your projects and templates and jumps straight to one. It works on every workspace page, even where no search box is visible.
  • These docs: searches every page of the documentation by content and deep-links to the matching section.

Cmd+K does not work inside the build workspace; there, search lives in the panels themselves.

The chat composer

KeysDoes
EnterSend the message
Shift+EnterNew line without sending
then Enter or TabNavigate and pick from the slash-command menu when it is open
EscClose the slash-command menu (this also clears what you typed)

The prompt box on the dashboard works the same way: Enter starts the build, Shift+Enter adds a line.

Edit Mode

Edit Mode is the one part of Vaulter with real shortcut depth:

KeysDoes
Cmd+EToggle Edit Mode on and off (works while the Preview tab is active)
EscDeselect the selected element; pressed again with nothing selected, exits Edit Mode
Cmd+ZUndo the last Edit Mode change
Cmd+Shift+ZRedo

While editing text directly on the page: Enter commits the text, Shift+Enter adds a line, Esc throws the edit away and restores the original.

Two behaviors worth knowing: Edit Mode undo stops at changes it cannot safely invert rather than skipping past them, and Edit Mode switches itself off when you leave the Preview tab or a build starts.

The code editor

The Code tab and the Vault's SQL editor are the same editor VS Code uses, so its standard shortcuts apply: Cmd+F find, Cmd+/ toggle comment, Cmd+D select next occurrence, Alt+↑/Alt+↓ move a line, F1 for its full command list, and its own text-level Cmd+Z.

One expectation to unlearn: there is no Cmd+S. The editor does not have a save shortcut; pressing it triggers your browser's own save dialog. Saving is the visible save action in the panel.

What deliberately does not exist

So you can stop looking:

  • No global command palette with actions; Cmd+K only searches and navigates.
  • No Cmd+Enter to send chat; sending is plain Enter.
  • No shortcut to switch build-workspace tabs (Preview, Code, Vault); they are click-only.
  • No project-wide Cmd+Z. Undo outside Edit Mode is the version history, which is deliberate and visible rather than a keystroke.
  • No shortcut to refresh the preview; the refresh control is in the preview toolbar.
  • No ? help overlay; this page is the reference.

Frequently asked

Can I customize or add shortcuts?

Not today. The set above is fixed.

Cmd+E is not toggling Edit Mode

Cmd+E works while the Preview tab is the active view. If you are on the Code or Vault tab, switch to Preview first.

I pressed Cmd+Z and my last chat change did not undo

Chat changes are not on the keyboard undo stack; Cmd+Z only undoes Edit Mode changes. To roll back something the agent built, use Undo and version history.
