Buy a domain

You can search for and buy a custom domain right inside Vaulter, from Vault → Domains. There is no separate registrar to deal with, and no DNS to configure. Once you buy it, your app is on it.

Buying a domain

Search for the name you want. Vaulter checks availability live and shows you the yearly price up front; if your first choice is taken, it suggests available alternatives on other endings. Pick one and continue to checkout.

Checkout is a standard card payment. It also collects your name, address, and phone number, because those become the domain's official registration details, yours, not Vaulter's. The price you saw is verified again at purchase time, so it can never silently change between the search and the charge.

What happens after payment

Everything else is automatic. Vaulter registers the domain, connects it to your app, and provisions its security certificate. The Domains panel shows the progress live, and flips to Connected when your app is being served on the new domain. There are no DNS records to add and nothing to verify by hand.

You own the domain

The domain is registered to you. You are the legal owner and registrant of record. Because it is yours, you are free to transfer it to another registrar later if you ever want to.

Renewal is on by default, so your domain quietly renews each year and your app never falls off the internet because a date slipped by.

Already own a domain?

If you bought a domain somewhere else, you do not need a new one. Point your existing domain at your Vaulter app instead: see Connect an existing domain.

Buying in Vaulter is the fastest path: search, pay, done, with registration, connection, and SSL all handled for you. Connecting a domain you already own works just as well, it just involves a couple of DNS records at your current provider.
