# SEO

> Vaulter handles the SEO plumbing for you: SSL, robots.txt, sitemaps, and social previews. What is automatic and what you control.

Search engines need certain things to find and rank a site. Vaulter handles the plumbing for you, so your published app is ready to be found, and gives you the controls that shape how it appears.

## What is automatic

When you publish, these are set up with no configuration:

- **A secure connection.** Your app is served over HTTPS, which search engines expect.
- **robots.txt and a sitemap.** Served live for your app and kept correct as your status changes, telling search engines what to crawl and where your pages are.
- **Social previews.** Every published app gets link-preview tags, so sharing your URL on X, LinkedIn, Slack, or iMessage shows a proper title, description, and image. If you have not set an image, Vaulter generates a branded preview card for your app automatically.
- **Sensible defaults.** Title defaults to your app's name, and the description and preview card have working defaults until you set your own.

## What you control

Open **Vault → SEO** to set the things that shape how your app appears:

- The **title** and **description** search engines and link previews show.
- The **social preview image** for shared links.
- The **canonical URL**, if your app lives on a custom domain.

And the content itself is where you make the difference. Ask the agent:

- "Write a clearer headline and intro for the landing page."
- "Set the page title to 'Bloom, salon booking made simple'."

## Who gets indexed

Not every app should be in Google, and Vaulter enforces this for you. Your app is indexable when all three are true:

- It is on a **paid plan**. Free apps are kept out of search engines entirely, at the server level, so throwaway experiments never pollute results.
- It is **public**. Collaborator-only apps are never indexed.
- You have not turned indexing off. There is a switch if you want a public app kept out of search on purpose.

Everything else on this page works either way, so your app is ready to be found the moment it qualifies.
