# Start from a template

> Skip the blank page. Start from a ready-made app and change it to fit your idea.

You do not have to start from a blank page. Templates are ready-made apps you can open, make your own, and publish.

## Why start from a template

A template gives you a working app on the first screen: real pages, a sensible data model, sign-in already wired up, and a polished design. Instead of describing everything from scratch, you start from something that already runs and change the parts that matter to you.

Templates are a good fit when:

- You want to see what a finished Vaulter app looks like.
- Your idea is close to a common pattern, like a dashboard or a project tracker.
- You want a strong starting point for the design.

## What is in the template library

The templates page lets you search and sort the library by popularity, newest, rating, and price. Every card shows the template's category, rating, and how many times it has been used.

Official Vaulter templates are free and built to the same standard: a public landing page, a sign-in flow through the Vaulter portal, and a private dashboard that greets the signed-in user by name. They ship with no fake demo data, so what you see is what your users get.

The library also includes templates made by the Vaulter community. Some of these are paid; buying one is a normal checkout, and it then behaves exactly like any other template you use.

## Using a template

Pick a template and hit **Use**. Vaulter clones it into a brand-new project of your own and drops you into the build workspace. From there it works exactly like any other app: ask the agent for changes in chat, adjust the design with Edit Mode, and publish when you are ready.

> Changing a template is the same as building from a prompt. The only difference is where you start. Everything you can do to a prompt-built app, you can do to a template.

## Making it yours

Once your template is open, describe what is different about your version:

- "Change the brand color to green and use our logo."
- "Rename Clients to Members everywhere."
- "Remove the payments page, we do not need it."

Keep going until it fits, then publish.
